The Golden Joystick Awards have just concluded, with the big winner being Skyrim, taking home Ultimate Game of the Year.
But it was a big year for the awards themselves – not only is this the ceremony’s 30th anniversary, it also received a record-smashing 4 million votes in total – more than doubling the Guinness World Record they set last year.
Results such as best RPG going to Skyrim should surprise nobody, but some of the winners were a little more unexpected, such as Battlefield 3 edging out Modern Warfare 3 for Best Shooter, and World of Tanks claiming the Best MMO.
