What’s in the cube? WHAT’S IN THE CUUUUBE?! We’ve waited months to find out, and now that the game experiment is actually available… I keep getting a server error when it tries to connect. So I guess I won’t be finding out any time in the immediate future, but in the meantime, more than twenty thousand people have apparently already been tap-tap-tapping away to reveal its mysteries since the game experiment launched on iOS late last night.
“Join thousands of people worldwide to simultaneously chip away at a giant cube to discover the life-changing secret buried inside,” reads the app blurb over on the iStore. “Deep in the centre of the cube is something life-changingly amazing, but only the first person to reach the centre will discover what’s inside.”
Exactly what that “life-changingly amazing” thing is remains to be discovered, but Peter Molyneux has previously confirmed that it won’t be “a huge pile of money”, a sports car, a dead cat, and Half-Life 3. According to the app’s terms and conditions, however, it is a video of something.
“The winner is free to do what they wish with the video link information – they can disseminate the link via social media or keep the content to themselves. However, the video link information should not be traded for any personal monetary gain.”
A post over on the CVG blog is being updated live from cubespace, although it’s mostly just penises for now.
The game experiment is also scheduled to launch for Android devices, but has been temporarily delayed due to technical problems. Or maybe the Android version of the game experiment is inside the cube of the iOS version. You read it here first, people.
