Blizzard has announced that – surprise! – there’s an expansion pack for Diablo III.
Blizzard president Mike Morhaime confirmed that the expansion is already on the studio’s schedule during a recent Acti-Blizz earnings call.
“We do have an expansion planned for Diablo, [but] I don’t have any timeline to talk about. I think the most important thing for us always comes down to the quality of the expansion and the gameplay, so that will be a big factor in terms of driving our schedule,” said Morhaime.
In terms of the financials, Activision’s report was optimistic, with Blizzard shipping 10 million copies of Diablo III, and accumulating net revenue of $841 million.
Blizzard also revealed that StarCraft 2’s long-awaited expansion, Heart of the Swarm, will release in the first half of 2013.

They make good games but seriously, after all the profit they’ve made off us, they could at least have the decency to add LAN multiplayer support. All their older games have it, they have the money for it and they have the skill for it but they’re too stingy to ‘lose out on (a bit of) cash due to piracy’ when in actual fact it will boost their sales. Pft. Dead to me.
