Transformers 4 to star Mark Wahlberg

12 November 2012

It’s been confirmed after numerous rumours that Mark Wahlberg will star in the fourth installment of the big-screen Transformers adaptation.

Marky Mark will mark a new direction for the Transformers franchise, as the characters of Shia LaBeouf, Josh Duhamel and Tyrese Gibson will not be returning.

“The movie’s going to continue four years from the attack on Chicago, which was in the last movie,” said director Michael Bay. “It’s going to have the same lineage, but it’s going in a full new direction. It actually feels very natural how it’s going in that direction.”

Wahlberg and Bay have been working together on an upcoming action comedy film, and the director is optimistic with casting the former rapper in the Transformers franchise.

“Mark is awesome. We had a blast working on Pain and Gain and I’m so fired up to be back working with him. An actor of his caliber is the perfect guy to re-invigorate the franchise and carry on the Transformers’ legacy,” said Bay.

Production on Transformers 4 is scheduled to begin in spring 2013 and the movie will be released by Paramount Pictures on in June 2014.
