I’m sure that a lot of people who bought Call of Duty: Black Ops II today aren’t going to get exactly what they wanted for any number of reasons, but apparently a few people got a totally different game altogether.
Confused PC gamers on Reddit, Steam, and the Call of Duty community forums are complaining that the game’s installation bombs out on the second disc because it’s not Activision’s latest man-shooter at all, it’s EA’s space opera RPG Mass Effect 2. Aaaaawkward.
I’m sure it’s all a big conspiracy – ex-Infinity Ward men and Activision arch-nemeses Vince Zampella and Jason West are, of course, now employed over at EA and I can’t imagine a better marketing opportunity than this. Or maybe it was just a packaging mix-up over at the disc production plant, but that requires no suspension of disbelief whatsoever, and we gamers are all about suspension of disbelief. I mean, come on – look at all those obviously paid-for reviews Black Ops II has been getting.
