EA scores a perfect rating for gay and lesbian equality

EA LGBT rights

EA might have a somewhat poor reputation among some gamers because [whatever gamers are complaining about EA this week], but when it comes to equality, the publisher gets double high-fives from the Human Rights Campaign – and that’s probably more important to the human race than Online Passes or weapon balance in Battlefield 3.

According to the HRC’s corporate equality index, EA is officially one of the best places for work in America in terms of LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) employment equality.

“I am very pleased that EA has scored a 100% rating and been recognised by the Human Rights Campaign in a year where the company has taken significant steps to remain inclusive,” EA’s chief talent officer Gabrielle Toledano wrote on the company blog.

“EA has made changes to our medical benefits, been involved in LGBT events in our community and taken a public stance against the Defense of Marriage Act. EA champions diversity with a work environment where everyone feels welcome and can be themselves.”

Back in September, EA pledged its support for the (inevitably controversial) GaymerCon, scheduled to happen in San Franscisco next year.

LGBT minorities remain a socially and politically oppressed demographic in America, where same-sex marriage is still illegal in many states for no good reason whatsoever.
