While the world is busy losing it over Nintendo’s just-launched Wii U, is the sneaky console maker sneaking in an original Wii redesign under everyone’s noses?

A rumour is making the rounds that a Wii Mini may be being launched as early as the 7th of December this year.

The information comes from the internal release schedule of a major retailer, and comes via Nintendo World Report. They’ve allegedly uncovered the following in the report:

Introducing the Wii Mini! Coming Dec 7 2012!
WII MINI CONSOLE
Compact Nintendo Wii Console
Comes with Sensor Bar, Nunchuk and Wii Remote Plus with Jacket.

It does seem a little strange that Nintendo would be planning a major redesign without so much as an announcement; shouldn’t this have been hyped a little more? It’s possible the release has simply been delayed due to the Wii U, but if you want to launch something new, this is definitely the time to do so.
