SyFy is preparing to air a new show, Robot Combat League, which will pit two human-sized robots against one another. It’s Real Steel… for real-real.

SyFy president, Mark Stern expressed that the company’s goals have always included such a show.

“It has always been our desire to update and do ‘Battle Bots’ for the new century,” says Stern.

The network reportedly created its own robots for the show with the help of Mark Setrakian, a robotics expert who has worked on technology for films including Men In Black and Hellboy.

Entertainment Weekly reported that the robots will mimic the moves of shadow-boxers.

“Setrakian created a robotics system that can mimic a human’s actions and movements. We’ve had robots decapitated, we’ve had robots cut in half. It was truly spectacular,” said Stern.

The show will be hosted by former WWE wrestler Chris Jericho, with an announcement of its debut to appear shortly.

I’ll put my money on the one with an axe for a head.
