Wii Mini officially revealed

Wii Mini

After being leaked through a few early listings by online retailers, Nintendo have just come out and announced the Wii Mini.

Even with the rumours, the announcement is rather strange, regarding the company has a brand new console, the Wii U, which releases locally in South African stores on Friday, 30 November 2012.

Whether it’s necessary or not, the console exists and will be sold exclusively in Canada for the meantime, at a price of CA$99 (around R882).

The console itself will be cheaper as online functionality has been trimmed off, as well as the lack of media streaming services.

There will be no backward compatibility with GameCube games, leaving the console as purely a dedicated Wii gaming machine.

The console comes in two colours – red or black, along with a matching Wii Remote Plus and Nunchuck of your chosen colour.

The console will be available for Canadian gamers on 7 December, and while there are no details on the Wii Mini making its way to other territories, the impending success of the console should promote Nintendo to get it across borders.
