Valve has registered three movie website domains

4 December 2012

Valve does games, Valve does game engines, Valve does secret hardware projects, and now Valve does… movies? Basically, Valve does everything except Half-Life 3, apparently. Zing! (Obligatory.)

Anyway, Valve’s IT guy Chris Grinstead recently registered three domains for what look more or less exactly like two films, only they’re films nobody has ever heard of (yet), including:

  • FreeToPlayTheMovie.com
  • AheadOfTheGameMovie.com
  • AheadOfTheGameTheMovie.com

None of the links actually work for the moment, and it’s entirely possible Valve has no plans to go into the movie business whatsoever, but decided to register the domains just because, you know, they can. Or maybe not. Who knows? It’s Valve.

It’s not the first time the company has registered domains for movies, either – back in July, Valve registered two domains for “gamerlifemovie.com” and “gamerlifethemovie.com”, but (not unexpectedly) declined to comment about it.

Nobody even knows what Valve is doing anymore but maybe the whole operation has been taken over by space lizards or something, news at 10.
