Diablo III has been out on PC for months already, but what about those persistent rumours of a console version? Although Blizzard isn’t ready to officially commit to anything just yet, Diablo III for consoles is apparently very much in the works. It’s like StarCraft: Ghost all over again.
“We’re still kind of exploring it. We’ve got builds up and running on it,” Blizzard’s chief creative officer Rob Pardo told Polygon. “We’re hoping to get it far enough along where we can make it an official project, but we’re not quite ready to release stuff about it, but it’s looking pretty cool.”
In a separate interview, Diablo III lead designer and reformed bad guy Jay Wilson added that the studio is still “exploring console options”, adding that “The whole team is essentially working on the next big Diablo thing. A lot of that stuff will show up next year at some point.”
Blizzard is also currently working on a Diablo III expansion for PC, but no additional details have been disclosed yet.
In the meantime, industry analysts say that approximately three to four people are still playing the game.
