Valve is expanding into another corner of the market, this time taking on the likes of GameFAQs with Game Guides, a new Steam feature which will allow users to create guides for Steam games.
Valve wrote on the Game Guides beta forum, “You’ve probably got some favourite games that you play a lot and know pretty well, or maybe you’ve mastered playing as a certain class or character in Team Fortress 2 or Call of Duty. Or maybe you’re just really good at finding all the hidden secrets in the latest Elder Scrolls game.
“How do you put that knowledge to use and help fellow gamers? Create a game guide on Steam… With Game Guides, you can create a guide to help fellow gamers and share your expertise in whatever game you like.”
Game Guides will allow players to upload and insert images, or use screenshots from their Steam cloud, as well as insert YouTube videos and add friends to help write the guides. Once the guides are complete, they are published and made available to the whole community.
