Beware the Christmas Noobs

18 December 2012

As spotted by CVG, and posted to Reddit earlier today, Black Ops 2 developer Treyarch has updated their in-game Message of the Day with a holiday greeting that asks everyone to be kind to the impending onslaught of “Christmas Noobs”.

Did they just coin that phrase? I like it.

This is obviously referring to the influx of gamers who will be receiving the latest CoD game as a stocking stuffer for Christmas.

“We’d ask you to go easy on the Christmas Noobs, but we know you won’t,” says the tongue-in-cheek message.

On the other side of the coin, Treyarch issued a stiff-upper-lip message to the noobs themselves, suggesting they ignore the bullies, and get to grips with the game in the Combat Training modes.

I think this is a good message in general. Games are meant to be enjoyed, and while it’s fun to take things seriously, don’t ruin the fun for those less experienced by being an online gaming douchebag.

There’s one problem with this statement. All CoD players are noobs.
