Path of Exile open beta announced

Grinding Gear Games has announced an open beta date for its upcoming RPG Path of Exile. The game was voted as the best upcoming indie game of 2012 by the IndieDB community.

From 23 January, the proverbial bouncer will move away from the door, and everyone will be allowed to participate and try out Path of Exile.

“We’re excited to have reached the point where we can finally throw open the doors and invite everyone in,” said Chris Wilson, producer for Grinding Gear Games. “We have one of the best and most supportive communities on the Internet, and their input has been invaluable in making Path of Exile what it is. We hope they’ll be delighted with all the new content.”

Players who are already participating in the beta process won’t miss out, either, as the same day is scheduled as the release date for the next chunk of the game’s content – Act 3. The new chapter includes abandoned docks, markets, temples, and sewers in the ruined city of Sarn, as players “further uncover the dark truth of their exile.”

Existing players will have until the 23rd of January to purchase the exclusive in-game Kiwi pet bird; once the game goes open beta, it will no longer be available.
