Telkom binary ADSL SA news

Telkom has recently announced that a few areas in Gauteng, Cape Town and Durban will get 20Mbps and 40Mbps VDSL at launch (March 2013), with various other regions’ broadband networks set to be upgraded by 2015.

Telkom said that they are planning to launch 20Mbps and 40Mbps VDSL services on 4 March 2013 around the 52 upgraded street distribution cabinets in Benmore Gardens, Fourways and Waterkloof in Gauteng; Durban North in Kwa-Zulu Natal and Durbanville in the Western Cape.

In the next year or two, Telkom is planning to convert numerous additional areas to support the higher broadband speeds. This will happen in partnership with Telkom’s partners and contractors.

An unofficial list of regions which are set for upgrades was provided to MyBroadband. It should be noted that the list did not come from Telkom, and it should therefore be seen as a rough guideline rather than an official rollout plan.
