Starcraft 2 players get a free name change

15 January 2013

Blizzard has answered fans and has added the ability to change your StarCraft name, by adding a new free name change to all player accounts.

The developer is also aiming to add another free name change when the new Clans feature goes live within the “next couple of months”.

So if you’d like to change your name, log in to your account management settings and go to your Starcraft II account and a “Character Name Change” button should be available.

Blizzard also apologised for the delay of the feature.

“We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience that the lack of name change options has caused anyone. We’ve definitely heard your passion for this subject, and we should have more information about a Paid Character Name Change feature shortly after the release of Heart of the Swarm,” said Blizzard.

In the meantime, continue waiting patiently for Starcraft 2’s expansion, Heart of the Swarm, which arrives on 12 March 2013.

With the Battle.net feature, your only changing your displayed name, not your username (Which is your E-Mail address anyway).
