PS4 streams PS3 games using Gaikai

Sony’s acquision of cloud gaming company Gaikai could be put to good use, as reports suggest that the Playstation 4 will stream PS3 games using the service.

Sources close to The Wall Street Journal have claimed that Gaikai technology will allow current-gen games to be streamed, which will remedy the lack of backwards compatibility – another element rumoured with the PS4.

Sony purchased Gaikai in 2012 for a reported $380 million.

“By combining Gaikai’s resources including its technological strength and engineering talent with SCE’s extensive game platform knowledge and experience, SCE will provide users with unparalleled cloud entertainment experiences,” said SCE president Andrew House at time of the purchase.
