Although initially expected to arrive “during the holiday season” the first post release DLC package for Bioware’s 2009 RPG hit Dragon Age: Origins will be officially released on PC and Xbox 360 next Tuesday (January 6th).
A PS3 release is expected to drop “later in the month”.
‘Return to Ostagar’, which will retail for 400 MS points or $4.99 (roughly R38) will bring players to “to the fateful battleground in Ostagar where the Grey Wardens were nearly wiped out. Players will discover King Cailan’s top-secret political agenda and go behind enemy lines to revisit a place that many feared had been lost to history.” says publisher EA.
The add on will bring with it new items, more darkspawn to kill, and “a second chance to add Dog to your party”
“We are thrilled at the way the fans have embraced Dragon Age: Origins and we’re excited to welcome them back into the game,” said Aaryn Flynn, General Manager and Vice President, BioWare Edmonton. “Return to Ostagar represents BioWare’s commitment to providing a steady stream of compelling post release content as we continue to expand the Dragon Age universe.”
Since its release in early November Dragon Age: Origins has been well received by critics and gamers alike. It currently holds an average review score of 91 on aggregator Metacritic and also took the Best RPG and Best PC awards at 2009’s annual Video Game Awards.
