Prior to official details of the next-gen Xbox being released, a Microsoft employee tweeted about some features, and the mother-ship wasn’t happy.
The controversy kicked off when Microsoft Studios Creative Director Adam Orth fuelled more rumours regarding the console’s speculated “always-online” feature.
“Sorry, I don’t get the drama around having an ‘always on’ console,” Orth tweeted. “Every device now is ‘always on.’ That’s the world we live in #dealwithit.”
The “deal with it” part didn’t go down well with the community, and gamers responded angrily.
Whether or not Orth’s tweet was a very-poorly worded indirect confirmation of the rumoured always-online feature of the next-box is unknown, however, Microsoft did respond to the tweet.
“We apologize for the inappropriate comments made by an employee on Twitter yesterday. This person is not a spokesperson for Microsoft, and his personal views do not reflect the customer centric approach we take to our products or how we would communicate directly with our loyal consumers. We are very sorry if this offended anyone, however we have not made any announcements about our product roadmap, and have no further comment on this matter.”
What do you think of Orth’s tweet? How would “always-on” change your view on the next Xbox?
