The GameX gaming expo that was aimed at bringing a fully-fledged video game showcase to Cape Town on 12-14 April 2013 has been postponed.
Due to “trademark and logistical setbacks”; the event will now take place in 2014.
“This was not an easy decision but seems to have been supported well by the gaming community, who clearly would rather attend a full, exciting event,” said Sean Fowles, who’s behind GameX.
“We have invited all gamers and electronics enthusiasts to help us with the naming of the event for 2014,” added Fowles. “This setback does not detract from the good intentions of our team.”
Problems with GameX arised when it became evident that a “GameX” trademark had been registered by another entity weeks before the initial expo announcement.
“Without the trademark resolution, the show needed to be renamed and all logistics updated to match,” according to a GameX statement.
GameX will be given a new date in 2014 for the show to take place.
