Batman: Arkham Origins revealed

9 April 2013

Once again, Gameinformer has given a sneak-peek into its May cover, and the new magazine reveals the next Batman game, Arkham Origins.

Batman: Arkham Origins is the next game in the Arkham franchise, but instead of being developed but RockSteady Studios, who handled Arkham Asylum, Arkham City, the game development now falls into the hands of Warner Bros. Games Montreal.

WB Montreal has been given full access to Rocksteady’s custom modified Unreal engine, which will keep Arkham Origins within the same vein of the previous games.

Regarding the setting, the game will take place before the events of Arkham Asylum and Arkham City where an “unrefined Batman” takes on some super-villains for the very first time.

Origins will see “eight of the world’s best assassins coming together on one night, Christmas Eve,  to kill the Bat”.

The May cover shows Batman gliding on the front, with the familiar face of the villain Deathstroke on the back.

Eric Holmes (Prototype, Hulk: Ultimate Destruction) is creative director on the project, giving a new yet experienced eye on the game.

WB Montreal understand that they have some big shoes to fill, following on from Rocksteady’s impressive takes on the Batman universe.

“We’re very aware that we are standing on the shoulders of giants,” said WB Montreal.

Batman: Arkham Origins will release on 25 October 2013 on Wii U, Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.

In addition to Arkham Origins, Arkham Origins Blackgate, a handheld game for 3DS and Vita, will also release alongside Origins.

Blackgate is being developed by Armature Studios and takes the form of a 2.5D side-scrolling exploration action game.

Will be a flop… You can’t take an established IP and give it to another developer and expect it to be good. This NEVER EVER happens… Look at Gears of War Judgment, it was simply not worth the price tag. It was just a R500 DLC
