The auction for THQ’s much-wanted intellectual property (IP) has finally come to an end, and some of the big-name rights have found new homes with some interesting publishers.
Three publishers grabbed up all the remaining IPs, with a total of $6.55 million being spent in acquiring the various rights.
In terms of the big-hitters, the rights to Darksiders, Red Faction, MX vs. ATV, Destroy All Humans!, and others were picked up by Nordic Games; which is surprising, given that Crytek had said that it had set its sights on the Darksiders IP. All together, Nordic Games spent $4.9 million acquiring all the rights.
Gearbox Software managed to nab the Homeworld franchise IP for $1.35 million.
THQ’s smaller but nonetheless important gems, Drawn to Life and Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter IPs were picked up by 505 Games for $300,000.
