Call of Duty: Ghosts to be “powered by next-gen engine”

29 April 2013

After the next Call of Duty title was let slip through Tesco, the UK retailer has once again let out some details about Activision’s Call of Duty: Ghosts.

The UK outlet and online shop listed the game on its website, with a description saying that the game will be “powered by a next-generation Call of Duty engine”.

“The franchise that has defined a generation of gaming is set to raise the bar once again with the all-new Call of Duty: Ghosts” said the description. “Published by Activision and developed by Infinity Ward, the studio that created the original Call of Duty and the seminal Call of Duty: Modern Warfare series, Call of Duty: Ghosts ushers in the next generation of the franchise, delivering a riveting all-new gameplay experience built on an entirely new story, setting and cast, all powered by a new next-generation Call of Duty engine.”

The original listing showed that the game is planned for PS3 and Xbox 360, however, given the description and suspected launch date, it lends to the idea that the game will also be announced for next-gen consoles.

This is all speculation though, so perhaps the celebration and excitement will come when it’s officially announced. I know mine will.
