On Thursday, 30 May, BT Games listed a promotion regarding a Sony Xperia Go smartphone and Vodacom 4U bundle. MyGaming asked BT Games if the retailer will now be selling cellular packages and smartphones.
“We do not retail cellular at all and this deal is available from Gauteng Vodacom 4U stores, not BT Games stores,” said BT Games’ Karl Klopfer. “We have partnered up with 4U to offer their clients a BT Games gift card on the Smart Light contract offer, so as to extend client options and bring a smile to Gamers looking for a good deal on the Xperia Go. We are not of plan at this time to retail cellular packages.”
Klopfer explained that the promotion is a once-off special, but the possibility for more is an option.
“Pending popularity we may extend the deal later to other Vodacom 4U stores or even work on a new deal should Vodacom 4U want to. It is too early to tell yet as we have launched around a week ago,” added Klopfer.
MyGaming also asked whether there are plans to expand the promotions beyond Vodacom products.
“Based on the above there is no plan at this stage to move into the Cellular market – we are working hard to offer gamers the best stores and gaming product offerings in SA and that remains our priority.”
