Ubisoft’s jaw-dropping and hilarious E3 announcements

11 June 2013

Ubisoft is always one of the big publishers who is sure to put on a good show at E3, and they didn’t disappoint this year, giving gamers a closer look at some of the biggest games heading our way over the next year.

The Crew

The Crew is Ubisoft’s upcoming open-world racer that looks like the best elements of Burnout and an MMO combined.

Players will have to team up with friends to get a rep across the underground racing scene and sabotage the 510s – a notorious gang which controls the city.

Trials Fusion and Trails Frontier

Trials is one of the craziest franchises around, and Trials Fusion will bring the over-the-top physics-based bike platformer to the current and next-generation of consoles.

Trials Frontier is a mobile iteration of the franchise, allowing gamers to take the chaotic series on the move.

Both games are set for a 2014 release.

Tom Clancy’s The Division

The Division was one of the highlights of the show, and is a new online open-world RPG for Xbox One and PS4.

The Division takes place in New York three weeks after a lethal virus, released on Black Friday, swept through the city. Players have to scavenge and fight for their lives in order to survive the now derelict city.

The game is scheduled for a 2014 release.

The Mighty Quest for Epic Loot

The Mighty Quest for Epic Loot was a particularly amusing announcement, with it’s hilarious trailer and gameplay voiceover.

The game looks to be a multiplayer castle-raiding tower-defense hack-n-slash hybrid affair, and if the humour carries through to gameplay, we’ll keeping an eye out for this one.

Splinter Cell: Blacklist

Splinter Cell: Blacklist has been known about for quite some time, but Ubisoft treated us to a new trailer for the game, along with another on-stage demonstration.

South Park: The Stick of Truth

We finally get a fully-fledged trailer for the long-awaited South Park RPG.

The game is written and voiced by series creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone and will require players to arm themselves in order to defeat the crabpeople, underpants gnomes, goddamn hippies, and other forces of evil.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag

A huge draw for Ubisoft is always going to be the Assassin’s Creed franchise, and we finally got to see Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag in action, showing the new stealth and combat mechanics in the game.

Rocksmith 2014

A new Rocksmith game was announced for current-gen systems, and features a completely redesigned interface and all-new features to better teach the key elements of guitar playing.

Rocksmith 2014 Edition also features a new track list with more than 50 hit tracks, including “Stone” by Alice In Chains, “Walk This Way” by Aerosmith, “Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door” by Bob Dylan, “The Chimera” by The Smashing Pumpkins, and “Don’t Look Back In Anger” by Oasis.

Just Dance 2014

Just Dance 2014 will bring the famed dancing franchise to the next-gen console (along with the current).

The game will utilise the improved capabilities of next-gen motion controls to introduce a greater level of fidelity and tracking for you to embarrass yourself.

Watch Dogs

Watch Dogs needs no introduction at this point, and Ubisoft showed off its impressive hack-‘n-shoot game with a new CG trailer and on-stage demo.
