Codemasters today announced that a new IP is currently in development over at its Guildford studios in the UK.
The team developing Bodycount is being headed up by Stuart Black, the creative director who gave us Black. The game will make use of the EGO Game Engine, and will be released for Xbox 360 and PS3 in the first quarter of 2011.
So why should we care about Bodycount? Well Codemasters obviously thinks we should, and this is why.
“In Bodycount players become ensnared in a clandestine global power struggle as a powerful combat asset with a green-light to eliminate enemies known only as ‘Targets’ on behalf of the ‘Network’. Equipped with a mouth-watering selection of contemporary weapons, players and opponents tear through destructible cover to execute explosive kills in a shreddable world where operatives are encouraged to leave no witnesses. Complimented by online multiplayer and co-operative game modes, Bodycount will blast outrageous action and spectacular fire-fights from both barrels.”

Here the environment is constantly changing as the game world is shot to hell; it’s going to be a huge amount of fun,” says Stuart Black.
It sounds all well and fine, but do we really need another generic action orientated first person shooter? I guess we will have to wait and see more before predicting whether Bodycount is one to watch or not.
