SA retailers launch gaming specials

South African retailers have presented gaming specials and deals in an attempt to keep prices reasonable for SA consumers.

Regarding the recent Rand fluctuations, MassMart (Game, DionWired, Makro) explained that price increases will be the last resort over any other solution for the retailers.

“Typically in this environment both retailers and suppliers alike are hesitant to move pricing upwards and will only do so when all other options have been exhausted,” said a Mass Discounters spokesperson. “Suppliers will be expected to absorb some of the effect and retailers would do the same and so ultimately consumers will typically not see the real or full impact of the currency weakness in the final retail pricing.”

Kalahari

Local online retailer Kalahari has introduced a number of specials on different console and PC games, along with the consoles themselves.

The promotion includes up to 20% off on the “top 20 games of 2013”, which includes discounts on Battlefield 4 pre-orders for Xbox 360 and PS3 (R559.95) and PC (R409.95).

Also receiving a pre-order price drop is FIFA 14, which is now R329.95 on PC and R559.95 on PS3 and Xbox 360.

The Nintendo Wii U bundles have also received special prices, with the 32GB ZombiU Premium Pack priced at R3,499, and the 8GB basic pack going for R2,499.

Max Payne 3 for consoles has also been dropped and is priced at R159.00 on Xbox 360 and R198.00 of PS3.

There are other specials on Steelseries gaming peripherals.

Wii U specials (Kalahari)

Makro

Makro has a PS3 bundle on special for R3999.00 this weekend.

The PS3 is a 500GB Red edition, which comes with two Dual Shock 3 controllers and two games – Street Fighter X Tekken and the highly underrated Binary Domain.
