In January this year Microsoft announced a new add on service to Xbox Live called Game Room. Game Room is essentially an online old school arcade emulator, where games can login and play classics like Asteroids and Street Fighter.
Today the service went live, and unfortunately its debut was less than stellar, with server issues being the order of the day.
It seems that most of the problems have been resolved, and Game Room is now available as a free download via Xbox Live, or for PC through Games for Windows live.
The arcade already has a number of old school classics, with more to be added on a daily basis. Games cost 240 MS points (R22). Free timed demos are also available on the service.
