Developers Cryptic Studios have revealed that, despite promises made in the past, that “there are no current plans for a console version” of popular MMORPG Champions Online.
The title, which was released in late 2009, was originally slated to hit both PC and Xbox 360 simultaneously. The developers later changed their minds adding that a console edition would be released at a later stage.
According to Cryptic creative director Jack Emmert “100% of our focus is on making the current PC product the best it can be”.
Previously the studio told the gaming press that “until we get the go ahead from Microsoft, right now we’re sort of waiting. It just takes time for the big beast known as Microsoft to get moving.”
One can only assume therefore that Microsoft lost interest in releasing an MMORPG title (which is typically known to be based on the PC platform) on its hallowed Xbox 360.
