Dota 2 team wins over R13.7 million

Over the weekend, the Dota 2 International tournament took place and the world’s best Dota 2 teams went head-to-head to see who had the mettle to take home prizes worth more than $2.8 million.

The two teams which battled to the final were the Na’Vi and Alliance – and it couldn’t have been a tighter call to make between the two.

  • The first match saw Alliance dominate the Na’Vi, after the Na’Vi took a risky move that didn’t execute as planned;
  • The second match saw the Na’Vi bounce back to level the score sheet 1-1;
  • The third match featured a good start for the Na’Vi, giving them the advantage that took them 2-1 on the scoreboard;
  • The fourth game was a make or break for Alliance, who dominated throughout the match and got themselves back in the running.

For the first time in the history of The International, the final went to five games with the winner of the fifth match grabbing the win.

Alliance were able to come out on top from a titanic battle where either team could’ve toppled, but it was Alliance who held strongest.

Congratulations to Alliance on the win of over $1.4 million, with second place coming away with approximately $619,000 and third roughly $281,000.

    Great games! Great teams! Alliance deserve the win and now I can’t wait for next year!

    Na’Vi FOR LIFE! o/

    Thank you for not putting spoilers in the title or image of this article 🙂

  • Game 5 was insane (*__*). So much drama, so much action, so fitting for a final showdown. I enjoyed it immensely 🙂

    Mouz FOR LIFE! 😮

  • All that money… The 8th placed team got more than the average amount earned by 1st place winners of other tournaments :D. The International really is an immense tournament.

    As much as I rooted for Na’vi, Alliance was the better team. They are so technical in their approach to all the aspects of the game, it’s just amazing to watch them play. Almost every single game you feel they are in control

  • UltimateNinjaPandaDudeGuy

    They do play extremely well and they deserve every single penny of the prize money, but personally they bore me… It’s more militaristic with them. :/

    Also LODA just comes off as a real douche…

  • Stan Smith

    Agreed, they bore the hell out of me as well, but I still can’t help being amazed at their play. They keep tight control over their games, the other guys barely get a chance. Amazing teamplay

    Oh yeah I don’t like Loda either, but IMO the whole team seems to have the same elitist mentality.

    Loda does get some brownie points for buying the secret shop out and giving the stuff away to fans

    LOL what a kak game.
