Microsoft has revealed the winners for its third annual Xbox Live Arcade Awards. These highlight the best titles of the year to appear on the Xbox Live Arcade platform based on community votes.
Over the years Xbox Live’s arcade platform has generated a considerable amount of hype and has provided a foundation for a number of independent games to thrive. Some of the most popular among the titles release have been Battlefield 1943, which recently reported its millionth download via Xbox Live, and Trials HD.
The primary winners were:
Best Overall Arcade Game: Trials HD (Microsoft)
Best Original Game: ‘Splosion Man (Xbox LIVE Arcade)
Best Family Game: Hasbro Family Game Night (Electronic Arts)
Best Co-Operative Multiplayer: Battlefield 1943 (Electronic Arts)
Best Competitive Multiplayer: Battlefield 1943 (Electronic Arts)
Best Solo Game: Shadow Complex (Chair Entertainment/Microsoft Corp.)
Best Innovation: Trials HD (Microsoft)
Best Graphics: Shadow Complex (Chair Entertainment/Microsoft Corp.)
Best Classic/Remake: Banjo-Tooie (Microsoft Game Studios)
Although South Africa does not enjoy official Xbox Live support there are a number of local players who are still able to access the platform as well as purchase Xbox Live Arcade titles via internationally registered accounts.
