Massive new PS4 games revealed

During Sony’s Gamescom 2013 press conference, the company announced a number of new games for its upcoming Playstation 4 console.

Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture

The team behind Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs and Dear Esther, The Chinese Room, were announced to be developing a new PS4 games.

Not much else is known, but a brief trailer at the Sony Gamescom conference definitely added the horror elements and creep-factor expected. The game follows an event which marks the end of the world.

Rime

Rime is an upcoming PS4 game by Tequila Works, the studio behind the zombie survival game Deadlight.

Rime takes a much more colourful approach than Deadlight, throwing players into a cel-shaded adventure game where they xplore an island which houses the ruins of an ancient civilisation. Think Journey meets Uncharted.

Helldivers

Helldivers is an upcoming squad-based co-op shooter from the team who brought you Magicka.

The top-down shooter features some crazy aliens and incredible weapons to fend them off, but the best news is that it’s a cross-platform, allowing PS4, PS4 and Vita users to fight extra-terrestrials together.

Resogun

Resogun is the next project from the team behind Super Stardust HD.

The game is another throwback to the retro games of yesteryear, but it has a twist. Players pilot a spaceship on a rotating loop, which can be manipulated back and forth.

Players will destroy obstacles and enemies, which creates some of the most gorgeous visual effects you’ve seen, since… well, Super Stardust HD.

Shadow of the Beast

1989’s underappreciated side-scroller Shadow of the Beast is getting a reboot for the PS4.

The game will be completely re-imagined for, and exclusive to the Playstation 4, and while not much is known, a CG trailer showing the beast-like anti-hero gruesomely dismembering anything that stands in its way was shown, and if that’s not enough to get you interested, we don’t know what is.

Minecraft

The colossal cult favourite that is Minecraft will be hitting the PS4, PS4 and PS Vita.

There’s not much to say about Minecraft that hasn’t already been said, but its popularity and addictive qualities will surely extend over to the next-gen edition.

War Thunder

War Thunder is a next-gen MMO that is coming to PS4.

The game brings back the war machines of World War II from five different countries, allowing players to jump in tanks, planes and other vehicles of destruction to cause chaos online and create their own wars.

FEZ

The highly-acclaimed FEZ has been announced to be making its way to PS4, PS3 and PS Vita, which is good news for those yet to play it.

There is no current release date for the Sony console and handheld versions.
