Grand Theft Auto 5 is undoubtedly the biggest release of the year, but another milestone that the team at Rockstar has hit is that the game is the most expensive ever produced.
It cost US$265-million to make, according to a report over on The Scotsman (though, we do wonder where they got this number). That’s around R2.643-billion, which was the marketing and development budget of the colossal crime-epic.
This puts the budget of GTA 5 in line with Hollywood blockbusters, and the title is being predicted by analysts as the highest-selling game this generation.
GTA 5 is expected to shift 25 million copies in the first year alone, racking up $1.5 billion in revenue.
Rockstar has now given us the initial announcement trailer, the character video, the gameplay reveal trailer, and the GTA Online video that was released earlier in August, and a new gameplay trailer which dropped last week.
Rockstar also released some details about the crew structures and hierarchy in GTA Online.
Grand Theft Auto V will arrive in stores on 17 September 2013 for PS3 and Xbox 360.
