Ubisoft has announced that the 2012 PS Vita release, Assassin’s Creed: Liberation, will be getting an HD overhaul for release on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.

The game will arrive in “glorious high definition with a host of gameplay refinements, graphical upgrades and even some new levels,” according to the Ubisoft blog.

Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation featured the series’ first female protagonist, Adeline, and proved to be a hit on the PS Vita.

Aveline is the daughter of a French merchant and an African servant, and uses her beauty, money, and deadly skills to her advantage.

The game is set in new Orleans during 1771. The Spanish have taken control of the city from the French, and elsewhere in North America, the Revolutionary War is raging.

This places it in the same time frame as its big brother game, Assassins Creed 3.

There is currently no release date for the HD console and PC version, but the announcement trailer does state “early 2014”.

MyGaming’s Henk Claasen reviewed Assassin’s Creed: Liberation upon its release in October 2012.

Assassin’s Creed: Pirates

Ubisoft also announced Assassin’s Creed: Pirates, which is a standalone Assassin’s Creed game for smartphones and tablets.

You play as Alonzo Batilla and explore the Caribbean, upgrading your ship and engaging in real-time naval battles on your path to claiming a legendary treasure and becoming the most feared pirate of your time.

Assassin’s Creed: Pirates will be available in late 2013.
