Battlefield 4

DICE and EA have revealed that players who purchase current-gen version of Battlefield 4 and wish to upgrade to the next-gen version will only pay £10 (R156*).

“Inside marked physical copies of Battlefield 4 for PlayStation 3 there will be a voucher with a unique code printed on it. This code will allow you the one-time offer of buying a digital version of Battlefield 4 via the PlayStation Store for only £10,” explained a post on the EU Playstation community page.

The discounted upgrade feature from current-gen to next-gen titles was originally announced by Sony president Andrew House during the Gamescom keynote presentation.

DICE has also announced that the open beta for Battlefield 4 will begin on 1 October for 360, PS3 and PC. It features Conquest mode on the Siege of Shanghai map.

DICE also revealed that Battlefield 4 will be featuring a test range for players who are a bit hesitant with vehicles, to have a fly or drive around, before heading into a real battle and turning your whole squad into a kamikaze-package.

MyGaming recently got hands-on with Battlefield 4 at Gamescom 2013, and uncovered 5 Battlefield 4 features worth fighting for.

Battlefield 4 will release on 1 November 2013 for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, with next-gen console release dates to be announced at a later stage.

Will it be available in SA and can it be done with Fifa 14?

  • This is said to be a “worldwide” feature. So our copies of BF3 should feature the voucher inside too.

  • Uberutang

    Honestly it should be free.

  • Bjorn

    you want everything for nothing?

  • Uberutang

No, but you are already buying the full game. You have the same account etc across all the EA games, so they should have a upgrade for free for users that will run the game on this gen vs next gen.

R100 is not a lot, but hell they can at least sell the thing as a multi license per platform vendor.

  • Bjorn

    I see.

Guess i’m not bothered because i have a PC

  • Uberutang

LOL same here. Do we know if local ISP servers is confirmed for this?

  • Bjorn

    There always is.

My Money is on MWEB getting servers first, they are really good with that 🙂

  • Uberutang

Little bird told me it might not be the case for 4… I am holding off ordering until IS or Mweb or SAIX etc confirms servers.

  • Bjorn

Beta starts in October, you will know then 😉

  • YuuZA

NO! considering how much one would pay if double-dipping, this is a massive bargain.

    /am a fan btw 😉

  • Glordit

Problem. With PS4 having better visuals, how massive of a download are we talking here?

  • Enigma

No local servers confirmed… And timing I would assume is governed by the publisher, not the host.
