Watch Dogs: Wii U version trumps 360, PS3

With Watch Dogs looking to be the benchmark of graphical superiority for PCs and next-gen, one must not forget that the game is also releasing on current-generation consoles, and Ubisoft said that the Wii U version is actually a slightly better version than what you’ll get on 360 and PS3.

“I would say the Wii U version is pretty much in between what the current gen is and what the next gen is from a version standpoint,” said Ubisoft creative director Jonathan Morin.

“It’s hard to position it. I would tend to say it’s maybe a bit closer to current gen than next gen for certain things but it’s a beautiful game on Wii U and it’s cool to play it just on the GamePad.”

Morin also added that the core game itself is the same across the three current-gen platforms, but Watch Dogs has been optimised for the “the beast that is the Wii U GamePad.”

Megarom Interactive has announced the South African release date for Watch Dogs – 22 November 2013 on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Windows PC, and WiiU.

The game will also be available for PS4 and Xbox One on 29 November and 22 November respectively.

I am keen to get this on the Wii-U but it’s a shame that it was almost R200 more expensive than the PC version when I pre-ordered. I will now wait for it to be cheaper. PC version = R360, Wii-U version = R530.
