game releases this week

This week, a familiar anthropomorphic hedgehog returns, while a new and unsung sci-fi shooter enters the realm of gaming goodness for October.

Sonic Lost World

The three-game-deal between Nintendo and Sega is an exciting prospect for Wii U and 3DS owners, and Sega’s first offering, Lost World, is dropping this week.

The gameplay itself shows that it’s definitely taken inspiration from another colourful mascot’s adventure, Super Mario Galaxy, which isn’t a bad thing at all.

Players will have to traverse (with speed) around some gorgeous and mind-bending 3D environments, while harnessing Sonic’s new abilities, such as a wall-run and climbing ability.

Alien Rage

Alien Rage is a game that’s definitely slipping under the radar, but the sci-fi FPS looks like it may have something special lurking beneath the surface.

The game features 14 levels of alien-blasting action, with a variety of enemies and giant bosses to take down.

Along with destructible environments, there are 10 different weapons in the game, each with a secondary firing mode.

Alien Rage is also available on PC.
