The Crew delayed

The Crew

Ubisoft has announced that its upcoming open-world racer, The Crew, has been delayed.

The game was originally scheduled to come out in Q1 2014 (within Ubisoft’s 2013-2014 financial year), however, the game now slips into the next financial period, making likely a release only after April 2014.

The company also announced that the open-world hack-‘em-up, Watch Dogs, is being delayed until 2014.

“Our long term goal is to win the next generation,” said Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot. “The tough decisions we are taking today to fully realize the major potential of our new creations have an impact on our short-term performance. We are convinced that, longer term, they will prove to be the right decisions both in terms of satisfaction for our fans and in terms of value creation for our shareholders.”

The Crew looks like the best elements of Burnout and an MMO combined.

Players will have to team up with friends to get a rep across the underground racing scene and sabotage the 510s – a notorious gang which controls the city.

The Crew could become the ultimate racing MMO, and will have to go up against Rivals in the action-oriented explosive racer genre.

Don’t worry too much though if you’re looking for something to scratch that vehicular-itch, as there are a number of other next-gen racing games speeding your way.
