With the next-gen consoles heading our way in the next few months, the discussion about pricing is always a highly-debated one, but it’s interesting to note that the PS4 and Xbox One will not be the most expensive consoles at launch in comparison to older generations.
While it’s a tough mathematical science to nail down, the effect of inflation has been taken into account when comparing the launch prices of yesteryear’s consoles to the upcoming generation.
The comparisons show that Nintendo’s consoles have always been well-priced, along with Microsoft’s two consoles, but Sony’s high launch-price for the PS3 stands out like a sore-thumb.
The Atari 2600, then taking into account inflation, is the most expensive console.

Well if you a gamer and really want the best than you will get it, but I can understand that the costing is a lot and people can’t really afford it at this time. I will definitely be picking up the PS4 on launch from Phoenix-Tech. When I pre-ordered with them 4 months ago, I paid R5400 with same day delivery set for the 29th of November. I do however feel bad for the local boys and girls who have pre-ordered and who’s orders have now been pushed to the 13th of December.
