Who are the most powerful women in gaming?

The prominence of women in the video game industry is something that is receiving deserved attention, as there are some influential females making waves throughout their respective fields, and CNN Money has put together a list of the 10 most powerful.

The list features top-tier business women as well as developers and producers on various big-name titles.

Check out the list below:

  • Hope Cochran – CFO King (Candy Crush Saga, Bubble Witch)
  • Stephanie Barish – CEO IndieCADE
  • Holly Liu  – Kabam Co-Founder and Chief of Staff (Fast & Furious 6: The Game, Kingdoms of Camelot),
  • Emily Greer – Kongregate co-founder and CEO (casual video game site)
  • Jessica Tams – Casual Games Association Managing Director (Casual Connect Conferences, magazine)
  • Kate Edwards – Executive Director at International Game Developers Association
  • Kiki Wolfkill – Executive producer at 343 Industries/Microsoft (Halo 4, Halo 5, Forza Motorsport)
  • Amy Hennig – Creative Director at Naughty Dog (Uncharted, The Last of Us)
  • Lucy Bradshaw – SVP of Maxis (SimCity, The Sims)
  • Jade Raymond – Managing Director at Ubisoft Toronto (Splinter Cell, Assassin’s Creed)

    Yeah, stereotypically you just swept aside their ‘power’ by putting up flattering pics of the prettiest one as the covergirl (who has memes on her hotness, btw). Why not have a mosaic pic of all of them? Or pics that are more functional – having a pic of a open-mouthed smiling Redmond with a caption of ‘speaking at….’ is extremely disingenuous. Articles like this just pay lip service to the rise of women in gaming, whilst still relegating them to cosplay girls and PSP-lickers, like Munn and Chobot. Subliminal reinforcement of gender roles. Meh.
