FNB to offer PS4, Xbox One deals

According to a report by MyBroadband, FNB may soon be offering the PS4 and Xbox One consoles as part of its Smart Devices promotions.

This news follows the recent addition of Xbox 360 to the Smart Devices product line up.

FNB’s Smart Devices promotions offer discounts and rewards to customers looking for some new gadgets in their life. Over the last two years, FNB has sold over 200,000 smart devices, with current sales exceeding 10,000 devices per month, MyBroadband reports.

Kartik Mistry, head of FNB’s Smart Devices unit, said that they are in discussions to offer the PS4 and Xbox One when it becomes available in South Africa.

He added that they are looking to provide their clients with a full suite of entertainment products.

FNB is already offering discounted and free ADSL products, and is in discussions with the mobile operators about expanding its telecoms offerings.

Mistry said that they are also working hard to provide an even better online shopping experience to their clients, which includes faster delivery times.

  • If they start selling PS4s… i know where im getting mine from.
Got my Note 2 from them and am very impressed on their delivery times and support

Now, are we restricted to one device at a time, or can I get one of each when they’re released?

  • You can get more than one device as long as you meet the base requirements (account type, monthly minimum deposit)

  • NicoR

As far as I understand, you can only be issued one device, whether you just meet the requirements, or 10x the requirements.

    I’ve tried…

  • Darryl Le Roux

It’s one device at a time. Also, they have credit checks in place as well.

  • Jared van Eck

No, you can now have 2 devices at one time.

  • Last time I spoke to Kartik Mistry I thought he said you can purchase multiple devices – perhaps I misunderstood. I shall do some research and contact FNB for clarity.

  • Derek Jones

I have a Nexus 7 from FNB, and previously when I have tried to look into getting another device it has provided with a popup saying that I have already taken advantage of the smart device offer, and I could not continue. I just tried again now, and this time when I selected the “Apply for Smart Device” option it took me to a list of devices. So either their policy has changed, or it will still bar you from continuing at a later stage. I didn’t want to go too far down the order process, in case I ended up actually ordering the thing :).

Would be really great to be able to order more than one device, so I hope they have lifted the restriction!

I too also experienced this, just last month I paid my last payment on a device previously acquired on FNB.

I think that online area ‘unlocks’ a month or two before the device gets fully paid. Similar to how providers can upgrade your contract before it reaches two years.

  • Derek Jones

Could be, but in my case I have about 12 months left.

  • NicoR

Hmm, I’m not sure then. FNB could of possibly changed there tactics. I was originally told by a service consultant at FNB that only one device is allowed per client to prevent abuse of the system. Maybe with the massive uptake of devices, FNB changed there T&C’s.

  • Peter Pan

Well I hope you can get more than one device! I intend getting hold of the Note 3 10.1 (2014 Edition) when it is available, and I would definitely be keen for the PS4!

  • Mladen Mihajlovic

    Ebucks ftw!

  • NicoR

oh my word, lol! What’s the chances…

  • CypherGate

WOW fnb just keeps on getting better and better. Clearly they top.

  • Rafiq Salie

So how does it work for people that want to pay off the device earlier than the stipulated 24 month contract?

  • Paul Hendrik Oosthuysen

When paying the device off earlier, you pay the full retail price of the device instead of the discounted price, as penalty. Well, this is how it works currently, not sure whether the rules would be amended a bit for the consoles…
