NFS Rivals ready for PS4 launch in SA

Apex Interactive, distributor of EA products in SA, has confirmed that Need For Speed Rivals (PS4 version) will be on the shelves in time for the PlayStation 4 launch in South Africa.

In fact, the game might be on the shelves a couple of weeks earlier than the PS4, with Rivals available from 29 November 2013 for PS4. This depends on the retailer deciding to stock the shelves with the game, explained Apex, but they will be making their delivery.

Ster Kinekor Entertainment has confirmed that the PlayStation 4 now carries a launch date of 13 December 2013 in South Africa. The recommended retail price is R6,299.

The reason for the launch date update? Over the ocean in North America, Electronic Arts has moved up the launch date for the game to meet the PS4 launch of 15 November.

This will make NFS Rivals the only racing game available for the console at launch – a huge sales advantage.

For Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, Rivals is scheduled for a 22 November release in SA.

Rivals is being co-developed by Criterion and new studio, Ghost Games. It will run on the impressive new Frostbite 3 engine (DICE’s latest 3D engine powerhouse showcased in Battlefield 4), bringing next-generation graphics, effects and features to the NFS world.

The new game will be set in Redview County, and will focus on the rivalry that exists between the high-stakes street racers and the county police force – as each side has to accumulate followers and supporters in order to win an “all out media war”.

Rivals will also feature deep customisation options, allowing you to enhance your car with performance upgrades, personalise your bodywork with fresh paintjobs, liveries, custom license plates, rims, and decals.
