Valve has rolled out a pretty big update for Dota 2, and most notably it brings back the Diretide game mode, which will be active from 14 – 28 November.
Diretide is a special Halloween themed game mode, involving candy, Roshlings, bullying, and teamwork.Head on over to the Diretide site to learn more about how it works.
The lack of a Diretide event during Halloween sent the Dota 2 community into an uproar, and the Dota 2 team was forced to admit their mistake and worked to implement the game mode for its 2013 outing.
The other major update is title “Three spirits” which includes a reskin of the classic Storm Spirit hero, and two new spirit-themed heroes, Earth Spirit and Ember spirit.
There is a new coaching mechanism with a variety of coaching tools so experienced players can help their friends get into the Dota 2 action with less fuss.
Item crafting and socketing has been introduced. Players can use recipes to transform items several items of the same rarity into a new item, or combine duplicate items into a single new item of higher rarity.
Socketing allows players to add gems to their items which will add a variety of visual effects, animations, and other boastful elements.
A “showcase” view has been added for players to closely inspect the fine details of their hero items and their heroes in action.
Pro player item sets have been added, each unique to a particular Dota 2 pro, so you can show your support.
