Indie-adventure STASIS, headed by Johannesburg-based developer Christopher Bischoff and his two colleagues from The Brotherhood, is going strong on Kickstarter.

With a US$100,000 goal (±R1-million) and 19 days left on the clock, the campaign has generated $67,729 (±R685,000) at the time of writing.

A notable development for the project since we first wrote about it, is that legendary game composer Mark Morgan has joined the team to create the music. Morgan is renowned for his immersive soundtracks on games such as Fallout, Fallout 2, Fallout 3: New Vegas, Planescape: Torment, and the upcoming Wasteland 2 and Torment: Tides of Numenera.

“At my first glimpse of STASIS, I was completely blown away by its Deep Beauty. This is destined to be epic.” said Morgan.

New pledge levels and stretch goals have been added, including and extended Morgan soundtrack, and a new chapter for the game adding a further 2 hours of gameplay.

STASIS

STASIS is a 2D isometric, point-and-click adventure game for Windows PC, set in the distant future on a desolate spacecraft. Protagonist John Maracheck must solve puzzles to save his family, while uncovering horrific experimentations, illicit research, and an ever-deepening mystery.

“Recently there has been an exciting resurgence of the point-and-click adventure genre. Standing on the shoulders of greatness, STASIS follows the game-play mechanics of classics like Space Quest, Kings Quest, the Monkey Island series, The Dig and Day of the Tentacle,” the team writes on the Kickstarter page.

“The critically acclaimed, Sanitarium – a psychological horror adventure game – used a similar graphical setup to STASIS. STASIS follows this unique visual aspect to bring this terrifying tale to life.”

Backers who contribute $449 or more will receive the Ultimate Edition of the game along with a collectible STASIS figurine of the main protagonist, a signed and numbered copy of the game, a canvas print featuring some of the artwork, a second copy of the game to give to a friend, Unobtanium credit in-game and your name and likeness added to the character bio of one of the corpses you’ll see in-game.

STASIS will launch in August 2014 and will be available on Steam or through the game’s website. A playable demo of the game is now available and it is also in the Steam Greenlight project.
