Shadow of Mordor gameplay trailer you must see

24 January 2014

The first gameplay trailer for Monolith Productions’ Lord Of The Rings adaptation has been unveiled. Middle Earth: Battle of Mordor releases in 2014 for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PC , PS3, and PS4

This 8 minute long gameplay preview shows off some amazing visuals and how the upcoming third person action adventure will play out.

The main character is human ranger Talion whose family is slain in front of him the night Sauron and his army return to Mordor.

The gameplay mechanics are similar to the climbing traversal of Assassin’s Creed, coupled with free-flow combat from the likes of the Batman Arkham series. However, there appear to be enough unique ideas to make this a fresh stealth-action-adeventure with lots of potential.

With his mysterious Wraith Vision skill, Talion moves his body from the real world to the spectral world. Wraith vision allows him to identify his enemies and return to the real world to confront them.

The game’s Nemesis system cleverly records Talion’s previous enemy encounters and shapes the missions and enemies around this. Nemesis will remind Talion of how enemies affected him in the last encounter, and likewise, enemies won’t forget Talion.

Through a combination of Wraith Vision and Nemesis, a unique system is revealed, allowing Talion to subdue and command enemies, send them on assassination missions, or let them live to spread the fear of his legend.

Check out the trailer below to see the gameplay systems in action.

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor is under development by Monolith Productions, who is collaborating with Middle-earth Enterprises, Peter Jackson, and the artists at Weta Workshop to ensure that the settings, characters and story align authentically within canon.
