The first official gameplay trailer has been released for The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
The gameplay trailer shows off snippets of Spider-Man web-swinging through New York and some brawling combat mechanics. We are also introduced to one of the central baddies, Kraven the Hunter (aka Sergei Kravinoff).
The infamous Russian strongman – equal parts charismatic and dangerous – will play a critical role throughout the game’s narrative, challenging Spider-Man’s code of justice as he traverses the criminal underworld. It also highlights the man beneath the mask, Peter Parker, who will play an important part of his own in the journey to come.
The game is pegged for launch in mid 2014, no doubt just in time for its June 2014 silver screen tie-in, and will be available on every major platform – Nintendo 3DS, PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Wii U, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
Published by Activision, the game is in the works at now-veteran Spider-Man devs Beenox, who previously had a mildly successful outing with the first movie-game tie-in 2012. Scores averaged around the 70% mark on the main platforms, while the portable versions hovered around 55%. Let’s hope they can crank it up a notch for this outing.
