Next-gen Worms Battlegrounds announced

Team17 has announced their first nex-gen console project, and it is of course a Worms title.

Worms Battlegrounds will be heading toPS4 and Xbox One in 2014, with no mention of other platforms.

Worms Battlegrounds will be one of the first titles to be self-published on the Xbox One under the [email protected] program, of which Team17 is one of the ambassadors.

No other information has been revealed at this stage.

I’m willing to bet that everyone likes a good game of Worms, but the series is getting a bit tired now – it will be interesting to see how Team17 tries to break the mould on this one.

Of late, Worms games seem to have been going through the motions, with a few lacklustre 3D outings and spin-offs in weird directions such as golf and pinball.

Perhaps a combination of everything they have come up with until now, wrapped in a nice next-gen graphical package will bring the series back to its glory.
