According to a Texas news site, a man had to duel for the love of his fair maiden after her estranged husband made an unexpected appearance. His weapon of choice – a replica Master Sword from the Legend of Zelda.
According to the report, Eugene Thompson was at home with his girlfriend on Saturday night when the pair got into an argument. His girlfriend then called her estranged husband, who arrived at the house ready to rumble.
“It’s late, I get up and look, and he is here, and I am like go away, you don’t live here anymore,” said Thompson.
I heard him heading to the bedroom where I was, so I jumped in the closet and I grabbed one of my replica swords, and I pulled it out and stood at the doorway, and he was coming down the hallway at me while I was yelling, ‘Go away, you don’t live here’ and he just walked right into the point of the sword, I don’t know if he thought it was a toy,” said Thompson.
Thompson managed to chase the man out of the house, but his attacker then broke through the front door and round two began.
Police said the men then scuffled, fighting for the sword. Unfortunately, the estranged husband tasted the mighty steel of the blade, once in the chest and again in the leg, after which he grabbed a flower pot and smashed it over the sword-wielding warrior’s (Thompson’s) head.
“Swords and flower pots; it sounds nuts, he is psycho,” said Thompson, describing the fight.
Both men were later hospitalised due to their wounds, while the girlfriend remained uninjured.
“I am just trying to figure out what to do from here. I have to find a new place to live,” said Thompson.
