Amazing Spider-Man 2 launch date, pre-order goodies revealed

4 March 2014

Hey all you web-slinging fans! Activision has announced that The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be available on 19 April in the US and 2 May 2014 everywhere else. This is ahead of the June 2014 release of the silver screen tie-in.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 game releases on PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii U, Nintendo 3DS, and PC (digital download only).

Along with the release date reveal some pre-order incentives were also revealed – the Web Threads Suits pack.

Those who pre-order the title on PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360 or PC will receive 4 unique in game suits, each with their own special powers and combat bonuses.

These include golden and red suit, a Venom-inspired look, a spider-man Noir edition suit and a blue and white sleek looking suit.

Previously, the first official gameplay trailer was released for The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

The gameplay trailer shows off snippets of Spider-Man web-swinging through New York and some brawling combat mechanics. We are also introduced to one of the central baddies, Kraven the Hunter (aka Sergei Kravinoff).

The infamous Russian strongman – equal parts charismatic and dangerous – will play a critical role throughout the game’s narrative, challenging Spider-Man’s code of justice as he traverses the criminal underworld. It also highlights the man beneath the mask, Peter Parker, who will play an important part of his own in the journey to come.

Published by Activision, the game is in the works at now-veteran Spider-Man devs Beenox, who previously had a mildly successful outing with the first movie-game tie-in 2012. Scores averaged around the 70% mark on the main platforms, while the portable versions hovered around 55%. Let’s hope they can crank it up a notch for this outing.

I hope this is current-gen footage because that looked terrible imho. I really want Beenox to do an improvement but this isn’t instilling any confidence :(. Will lookout for a bargain price if it turns out this footage is from the PS4/XBO/PC :/.
