Batman: Arkham Knight confirmed for next-gen and PC

GameInformer has the exclusive reveal on the next Batman Arkham game from series progenitor, Rocksteady Studios – Batman: Arkham Knight.

Series fans might agree that this is a welcome return of the developer, after the previous installment, Arkahm Origins, was handled by Warner Bros. Games Montreal, released to a lukewarm reception.

Arkham Knight is set after the events of Arkham City, and GameInformer hints that this “may just end the Dark Knight’s journey.”

The Batmobile is a core element of the gameplay, and a whole new area of Gotham City will be designed (claimed to be far larger than the world of Arkham City) to accommodate the new driving gameplay mechanics. Batman’s classic gliding and grappling traversal techniques will be in place.

Villains confirmed include Scarecrow, Penguin, Two-Face, and Harley Quinn, with more promised.

Arkham Knight is scheduled for release in 2014 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Personally, I’m glad that it won’t be held back by older consoles, especially if it is to be the swansong for the Arkham franchise.

GameInformer promises a 14-page exclusive detailing the game, which will be revealed on 5 March.
